CLEANING LCD SCREENS

Cleaning an LCD screen regularly will greatly enhance your viewing experience. LCD screens are especially susceptible to dust, smudges, smears and grime that can significantly impair your viewing experience. Cleaning LCD screens on a regular basis will greatly improve your viewing experience and the difference is quite amazing.

Laptops have what is called an LCD screen, which translates to Liquid Crystal Display. LCD screens are fragile and should be cleaned with extra care or risk permanent damage.

Warning: Never put your fingers on the LCD screen as this can burn out pixels.

It's okay to leave the monitor on during the cleaning process but if you turn it off you will be able to see the smears and smudges much better.

Always use a SOFT COTTON cloth when cleaning LCD screens.
Warning: Do not use paper towels, towels, rags, napkins or toilet paper as they may scratch the surface.

Dry Dusting of LCD Screen:
If your monitor is not too dirty you can use the SOFT cotton cloth for dry dusting. You can also use the anti-static dryer sheets they work great for dry dusting. Gently wipe (without pressure) the screen in one direction starting at the top and working your way down.

Deep Cleaning LCD Screens:
If your screen is really dirty then you can use a cleaning solution for a deep cleaning.
Warning: Do not use any products that contain ethyl alcohol, ammonia, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, or methyl chloride based cleaners these will yellow your screen.

There are special LCD cleaners available at stores but there is an easy, effective and very inexpensive homemade solution.

Homemade LCD Cleaning Solution:
Ingredients:
Isopropyl Alcohol
Distilled Water (Do not use tap water because it contains salts that can whiten your screen)

Mix equal parts distilled water to isopropyl alcohol (example: 1/2 cup water to 1/2 cup isopropyl alcohol)
Make sure to use only isopropyl alcohol.

Apply a very small amount of the solution ONTO THE SAME SOFT CLOTH and very gently (without pressure) wipe the screen in one direction from the top of the screen to the bottom.
Warning: Never pour or spray any cleaning solutions over the screen as this can short circuit your monitor.

Now that you have cleaned your LCD screen you can see the vast difference! Here's to seeing clearly!!
